Artist's Description

This painting was done during Raleigh's annual downtown arts event called "Artsplosure". Rain had been threatening all morning, but just before the dark clouds rolled in, the sun pierced through the gloom for one last time. I was fortunate to be there at just the right moment. I took a quick picture with my phone, then spent the rest of the day dodging high winds and torrential rains as I captured the feeling of that moment. I knew I had a "magic" painting underway early in the process-- that's why I stuck it out and finished the whole thing right there on the wet pavement.
