This painting was done on-location on New Year's Eve in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. I have done scores of festival paintings, I'm not sure that I've ever done one like this-- at a "safe distance" from the festival! I enjoyed capturing the lights of the busy street and the steady trickle of pedestrians going from one part of the event to another.
