Description
I probably shouldn't tell you this . . . but I just can't resist. About 10 years ago I was trying to make the transition from "Illustrator" to "Fine Artist". I took my body of work to a local up-scale gallery, and the owner said, "You have skill, but your work needs more 'pop'." I didn't really know what "pop" meant, but I packed up my French easel, went to this location, and started throwing paint around, all the while thinking, "Is this 'pop'?" It was the first time I did a plein air painting using acrylics underneath and oil on top. This is the very first painting I ever did in what is now my "native style." So this is an historic painting, in a sense. I am still surprised that it stands up pretty well as a piece of art, too. Sometimes, life really does turn on a dime.
